Race Description:
The race starts at Mountain Ridge Wine Cellar, leading you onto a 2km relatively flat gravel road before the big climb starts. The next kilometre starts the climb, while still running between fruit orchards, before leaving the road onto more deserted mountain road and some singletrack. The next 3.5km covers over 200m of the elevation gain, surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature, leading up to the waterpoint at the highest part of the race where you can rest and enjoy a beautiful view of the valley. This is followed by a steep downhill, before you get to the last climb, leading to Kanonkop. The first runner (male &female) to get on top of Kanonkop will get to ring the school bell and win a R500 cash bonus.
If you hear the school bell, know that it will be all downhill from there on. The way back includes some tricky downhills, before taking on the last 2 kilometres between the vineyards and back to the school.
Please watch out for snakes.
Please do not litter.
Please do not damage any of the fruit/grape orchards.
